Lotte Chemical Corp. and Lotte Fine Chemical Co., the chemical units of South Korea’s Lotte Group, held recruitment fairs and networking events at major universities in the United States in an effort to secure talents, the companies said Friday.

Executives and employees of Lotte Chemical and Lotte Fine Chemical visited 14 campuses between September 3 and 8 and shared each of their research and development (R&D) vision and hiring information.

The sites included Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

The group’s chemical businesses plan to carry out global recruitment annually to secure global talents while expanding various activities to enhance domestic talent pool networks through collaboration with major research labs and academia.

Next month, an event is scheduled to showcase the research achievements and R&D vision of all affiliated companies within the group’s chemical business to graduate students and Ph.D. candidates from leading universities.

Lotte Group’s chemical arm is working on developing technologies for future new businesses, such as battery materials, hydrogen energy, and recycling, centered around their R&D centers in Daejeon, Uiwang, and Seoul.

“We are steering R&D directions based on growth engines in the existing and future business areas specified in line with our 2030 vision,” said Lotte Chemical Chief Executive Officer Kim Kyo-hyun. “As part of our efforts, we plan to recruit key research personnel by 2030 to secure technology.”
