Ethnic Pashtuns protest to demand reopeing of Toorkham border with Afghanistan

This crossing is responsible for about 65 percent of cross-border traffic and has been closed numerous times in the past due to bilateral tensions, often involving incidents of firing. It has been a constant point of contention between the two countries, as the Afghan government does not recognize the porous border and instead refers to it as the Durand Line, a name given by the British during the colonial era.
