Korea’s Industry Ministry discusses cooperation with Airbus

The South Korean government has explored ways for local companies and engineers to join research and development led by Airbus SE. Jang Young-jin, first vice minister of trade, industry, and energy, met with Michael Schoellhorn, chief executive officer of Airbus Defense & Space, and exchanged views on expanding partnership between Korea and Airbus. They discussed details on a proposal by Korea that involves Airbus establishing an R&D center in Korea. They shared the view that local companies and engineers will be able to take part in the development of core technology in the 6th generation fighter aircraft, transport aircraft, and urban air mobility (UAM) through Airbus Korea International Technology Center.
