Over 83 thousand children are out of school in Islamabad alone, while in Pakistan as a whole, over 25 million children are not attending school due to the current economic situation in the country. The Junior Jinnah Trust (JJT), an NGO working with the capital's administration, has provided data showing that over 5 million children between the ages of 5-9 are not enrolled in schools in Pakistan, and this number doubles for adolescents between the ages of 10-14. Gender, socio-economic status, and geographical disparities also contribute to the high number of out of school children, with 78 percent of girls in Balochistan being out of school. JJT has been working since 2016 to enroll out of school children and has managed to establish 15 campuses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with a goal of reaching 5,000 enrolled students by 2025. Pakistan currently has the second-highest number of out of school children in the world, with 22.8 million children between the ages of 5 and 16 not attending school. EPA/FAYYAZ AHMAD
