LG Electronics unveils advanced in-car technology

South Korean tech giant LG Electronics Inc. unveiled several advanced mobility technology concepts that will change the driving experience for customers.

LG Electronics said on Sunday the company’s Vehicle component Solutions (VS) Division recently unveiled three in-car displays and two digital cockpits on its website under a new category, “LG Mobility Labworks.”

Mobility Labworks will introduce a series of the company’s pioneering projects and experimental technologies under the theme, “Experience Your Perfect Fit of Future Mobility.”

The new in-vehicle displays include the Min & Max, Pop & Fold, and Flex & Slide.

The Min & Max display features the Pillar-to-Pillar Plastic Organic Light-Emitting Diode (P-OLED) display that integrates the instrument panel, center information display (CID), and co-driver display (CDD). The display bends into an L-shape and offers the option of using either the wide or narrow side.

Pop & Fold displays are three displays hidden in the dashboard that become visible on demand. Flex & Slide displays use P-OLEDs to adjust the screen’s bending degree to suit users’ preferences.

The two digital cockpit concepts unveiled by LG Electronics feature a variety of innovative technologies including display and connectivity. It provides a glimpse into the future of mobility technology, such as rollable display, driver, and passenger monitoring system, and fifth generation (5G) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.
