Blue Bottle Coffee to open store at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Seoul

Blue Bottle Coffee, a specialty coffee roaster headquartered in California, the U.S., will open a store at Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, southern Seoul, on Friday.

According to Lotte Shopping Co. on Thursday, the two-story Blue Bottle Coffee café is the 11th addition in Korea. The roaster opened its first store in Seongsu-dong in May, 2019. The new store is the second-largest in size after the one located inside The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido.

The opening comes as Lotte Shopping has been putting out efforts to attract brands that are popular among the young people.

“Lotte World Mall is ramping up efforts to secure the brands preferred by young customers,” said an unnamed official from Lotte Shopping.

Lotte World Mall opened stores of popular apparel brands Ader Error and Mardi Mercredi earlier this year.

The interior of the Blue Bottle Coffee store in Jamsil is designed in a way that ensures harmony with the existing infrastructure inside the mall, Lotte Shopping said.

Extra walls are added to the interior space characterized by high floor height, with exterior walls made of glass to let sunlight come inside the café, which enables customers to get a view of Lotte World Tower, the country’s tallest landmark.
