South Korean tech giant LG Electronics Inc. is set to release energy-efficient home appliances in Europe as it seeks to expand regional presence.

LG Electronics announced Monday that it will unveil new high-efficiency home appliances under the theme of “Net-Zero House” at IFA 2023, Europe’s largest consumer electronics show, to be held in Berlin, Germany, from September 1 to 6.

The company is showcasing energy-saving home appliances as Europe accelerates its effort towards carbon neutrality. Last year, the European Union (EU) established the REPower EU strategy to reduce the use of Russian fossil fuels and expand green energy.

The goal is to increase the share of renewable energy such as solar and wind power to 45 percent from 32 percent by 2030.

The new LG drum washer is about 40 percent more energy-efficient than the highest energy rating A. It is also equipped with a microplastic care course that helps protect the marine ecosystem.

It reduces microplastics generated by the friction of clothes during the washing process by up to 60 percent without affecting washing effectiveness.

The new dryer has an energy rating of A+++, the highest in the market. It is powered by R290, a next-generation eco-friendly refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) value of 3.

Additionally, the new refrigerator is approximately 20 percent more efficient than the A rating. Its noise level is 29 decibels, the lowest among LG Electronics’ comparable models.

LG Electronics will also unveil the Home Energy Platform, which allows users to efficiently manage and save energy at home. Visitors at the exhibition can conveniently control the appliances and check their energy consumption level with the LG ThinQ app.

The exhibition will also show a heating and cooling system using an air to water heat pump (AWHP) to reduce energy consumption and a home energy storage system (ESS) that stores excess electricity generated by solar power.

LG Electronics will also set up an exhibition area for its built-in appliances. A variety of new built-in products will be on display, including energy-efficient InstaView ovens and dishwashers, hood-integrated inductions, and top-freezer refrigerators.

“We will continue to develop high-efficiency appliances with advanced energy technologies to provide a differentiated customer experience that considers both the environment and customers,” said Lyu Jae-cheol, head of the Home Appliance & Air Solution (H&A) Division at LG Electronics.
