Seulgi from Red Velvet renewed her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment.
“We have renewed an exclusive contract with Red Velvet’s Seulgi,” SM Entertainment told the Korea JoongAng Daily on Tuesday.
The agency did not disclose when the contract was signed and whether other members of Red Velvet renewed their contracts.
News outlets reported Monday that Seulgi renewed her contract with SM Entertainment.
While not disclosed, it is speculated that the members of Red Velvet, who debuted in 2014 — and 2015 for Yeri — have renewed their contracts in 2021, as a standard contract for idols is seven years long.
Red Velvet debuted as a quartet — Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy — in 2014 with its first single “Happiness.” Yeri was added to the group before the group’s first EP, “Ice Cream Cake,” which dropped in March 2015. The group is known for “Red Flavor” (2017), “Power Up” (2018), “Feel My Rhythm” (2022) and more.
