KU Institute for Continuing Education launches golf management course

Korea University Institute for Continuing Education will launch a golf management program next month, offering participants the chance to learn how to play golf from prominent figures in the sport.

Korea University Institute for Continuing Education will launch a golf management program next month, offering participants the chance to learn how to play golf from prominent figures in the sport.

The institute’s program runs from Sept. 14 through Jan. 18 next year, with lecturers including former and active professional golfers Kim Joo-hyung, Kim Ju-yun, Chung Jae-eun and Lim Tae-kyung in addition to United States Golf Teachers Federation teaching professional Park Young-chul and OK Financial Group Sporting Director Kwon Cheol-geun.

Participants will learn everything from how to actually play the sport to what to expect at professional golf tournaments.

Kim Joo-hyung competed on the JPGA in the 1990s and now teaches golf at his own academy. KPGA pro Lim offers golf lessons at his own academy too.

Kim Ju-yun is a Korea University graduate who won the Women’s Open — an LPGA major — in 2005 and now works as an assistant coach for the Korean women’s national golf team.

Chung, another Korea University graduate, is a former KLPGA golfer and now offers golf lessons on JTBC Golf.

The golfers will teach participants in person how to play a stroke play at a course near the university and also discuss their experience at KLPGA, LPGA, KPGA and PGA tournaments.

Park, on the other hand, will offer lessons on useful exercises needed to better play golf, while Kwon will give a lecture on sports marketing.

The institute is recruiting about 40 applicants for the exclusive 18-week program, with applications open until Aug. 31.

Each weekly session is three hours long. Lectures will take place at the Korea University Institute for Continuing Education lecture room in Seongbuk District, central Seoul.
