The poor management of the 2023 World Scout Jamboree wasn’t an accident. It turns out that 86.9 billion won (over $65 million), or 74 percent of the entire budget for the event, went to the operational costs for the organization committee. Civil servants from North Jeolla even took an eight-day trip to Switzerland and Italy, countries with no experience of hosting the event, to learn lessons from their “success stories.” [PARK YONG-SEOK]
