New tomato processing factory opens in Kandahar

A new tomato processing factory, named AIBK, has recently commenced operations in Kandahar, Afghanistan, at a cost of 6 million USD. With a daily processing capacity of 100 tons of tomatoes, the factory aims to address the agricultural challenges and losses faced by farmers in the southern region, including Kandahar, Zabul, Rozgan, and Helmand provinces. Previously, thousands of tons of tomatoes would go to waste in these areas annually. However, the factory will now process these tomatoes into a popular tomato puree recipe called Robe. Currently, the factory distributes its products to all provinces within Afghanistan and plans to expand its reach to foreign markets in the near future. EPA/STRINGER
