Seoul Institute of the Arts (SeoulArts) will begin accepting international applications for the spring 2024 semester.

The application will be open from Aug. 7 to Sept. 15. Auditions for applicants will be held from Oct. 21 to Nov. 5.

The university also created a musical acting discipline under the School of Performance’s acting major for the spring 2024 semester.

Applicants to the new musical acting program will perform a score from a repertoire of three numbers provided by the university and another score from a musical of their choice for the audition.

Those applying for the School of Music's Korean music program used to audition using traditional Korean instruments such as the gayageum (12-string zither) and geomungo (six-stringed zither).

Applicants for next year's spring semester will be able to audition using other acoustic instruments, given they perform genres of Korean traditional music such as sanjo (solo instrumental performance accompanied by a drum) or jeongak (formal music) with them.

Incoming international students with the top three admission scores are eligible for scholarships. The student with the highest admission score will get a full ride. The student with the second-highest score will receive 75 percent of the tuition, and the third-highest scorer getting half of the tuition.

To apply through the international admissions track, applicants either need to be foreign nationals whose parents are also foreign nationals or have completed elementary, middle and high school education in schools abroad.

Applicants with foreign nationality need to prove their Korean language proficiency by acquiring TOPIK level 3 or higher, completing intermediate level 1 or higher at the King Sejong Institute or completing Level 4 or higher at a university-run Korean language institute. Non-Koreans who graduated from a Korean high school are exempt from the Korean proficiency requirements but must acquire TOPIK level 3 within a year of enrollment.
