Italian suitcase maker Roncato launched a collection of light yet sturdy luggage to cater to the needs of travelers and campers.
The Italy-based manufacturer in June launched its ultralight suitcase lineup, "We Are Glam," after years of research and development. The lightweight cases are made from a new synthetic material that echoes the basic structure of polypropylene.
It also launched an eco-friendly lineup dubbed "Ypsilon," made from polypropylene, a recyclable material that consumes little energy in production. Ypsilon's carry-on trolleys have a USB port and storage for smartphone and laptop charging.
Roncato is a family business launched in the 1970s that has supplied suitcases to 66 countries and has ranked first since in luggage sales on their home turf.
It entered the Korean market in 2014 and saw its sales here grow by around 50 percent each year. Online sales in the first six months of this year had surged up to 300 percent on year on the back of the pent-up travel demand, Roncato announced in June.
We Are Glam and Ypsilon suitcases are purchasable in its online store (roncatouno.co.kr), priced at 760,000 won ($586.5) and 450,000 won, respectively, for carry-ons. Roncato products are also sold on Lotte Home Shopping, Hyundai Home Shopping and CJ Home Shopping platforms.
