State-run utility Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) won a $38.15-million deal bid to build a power distribution substation in the Dominican Republic.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal is Kepco’s fifth power facility project in the Caribbean country and total contract value hit $200 million with the latest deal.
Kepco competed with five companies, including those based in the Dominican Republic and Spain, for the bidding and was selected as a contractor to build three out of four distribution substations in Santo Domingo, the country's capital.
The signing ceremony was held in Santo Domingo on Tuesday, with representatives from Kepco and the local government in attendance.
Kepco’s projects in the Dominican Republic saw Korea’s power equipment exports to the country hit $20.7 million.
