Two key figures in corruption probe in Australia launch defense of their actions

The Independent Broad Based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC) released its Special Report in relation to Operation Sandon on 27 July 2023. The report by IBAC revealed compelling evidence of two councillors accepting personal benefits in exchange for making or influencing council decisions concerning planning or land use. Specifically, councillors Sam Aziz and Geoff Ablett were found to have advocated for the interests of John Woodman and his clients on the council, receiving payment and in-kind support in return.
