Taliban officials enforce music ban, Burning instruments as sinful acts

Uzair-ur-Rahman Mohajer, the deputy director of the Taliban's Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Herat, stated that the instruments were collected and destroyed based on the fatwa (decree) of scholars. The Taliban views musical instruments as depravity and corruption and sees their use as forbidden, reflecting the strict enforcement of their interpretation of Islamic law in areas under their control.
