The pitch at Seoul World Cup Stadium was drenched by a sudden downpour on Sunday evening, just an hour and a half before Manchester City and Atletico Madrid were set to face off in the Coupang Play Series.
Heavy rain began to fall shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, soaking fans outside the stadium and quickly waterlogging the pitch.
The unexpected downpour interrupted what had been a very sunny day in Seoul with no rain forecast.
As of 6:45 p.m., rain was still falling with large areas of standing water on the pitch, including around both goals.
The City vs. Atletico match is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m.
