Cooling off at beach when there is no beach

As highly unusual hot temperatures are experienced in many places around the world during the summer 2023, people naturally flock to water plans to cool off and relax. While many places enjoy a direct access to a beach, those who do not live nearby one that is usable as such, turn to what is often called man-made or artificial beaches; lakes, and other waterfronts are transformed to gather most characteristics of a typical beach destination where people do all the usual beach related activities. Some experts see the artificial beaches as a solution to the ones being slowly washed away due to high coastal development and climate change. EPA/MARK R.
