Floods in Maidan Wardak

Flash floods caused by seasonal rains have resulted in devastation in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Afghanistan, 31 people have lost their lives, with dozens still missing, as flash floods hit Kabul, Maidan Wardak, and Ghazni provinces, Shafiullah Rahimi, the ruling Taliban's appointed spokesman for Afghanistan's State Ministry for Natural Disaster Management said. The majority of casualties were reported in western Kabul and Maidan Wardak, while 250 livestock perished. Additionally, a recent flood in Jalrez district claimed the lives of 12 individuals, and hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed. Agricultural land spanning hundreds of square miles was also washed out, and the highway between Kabul and Bamiyan province has been closed.
