Girl group NewJeans’s second EP “Get Up” sold nearly 1.2 million copies last Friday, the day of its release, and achieved million-seller status.
“Get Up” sold 1,194,623 copies based on the Hanteo Chart, according to the group’s agency ADOR on Saturday. With these sales of “Get Up,” NewJeans recorded three consecutive million-sellers following their debut album “NewJeans” (2022) and single “OMG” (2022).
“Get Up” ranked first on Apple Music’s Top Album chart in 17 countries and on the iTunes Top Album chart in nine countries. One of the triple title songs, “Super Shy,” which was pre-released on July 7, ranked first on major music charts, including the Top 100 chart of Melon, the largest music platform in Korea.
The other title songs “ETA” and “Cool With You” as well as B-side songs “New Jeans” and “ASAP” were also ranked high on major music charts.
“Super Shy” ranked 12th on the Global Weekly Top Songs chart of Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, up 10 places from the previous week.
NewJeans debuted in August 2022 with five members — Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein — under ADOR, a newly-founded music label under HYBE, led by the former creative director of SM Entertainment, Min Hee-jin.
NewJeans has been one of the biggest names in K-pop ever since its debut. Its hits "Ditto," (2022) "OMG" and "Hype boy" (2022) were the three most-streamed and downloaded songs in the first half of 2023, and the band's debut track "Attention" (2022) was the seventh most-streamed and downloaded song in Korea, according to music sales tracker Circle Chart. The band received awards from major domestic music awards ceremonies such as the 2023 Golden Disc Awards, the 20th Korean Music Awards, the 32nd Seoul Music Awards and the Asia Artist Awards.
