Samsung cancels outdoor event over heavy rains

Samsung Electronics canceled outdoor schedules for its global Unpacked event to be held next Wednesday due to the expected heavy rains.

"We decided to cancel the outdoor event of 'Galaxy Unpack 2023 Live Viewing' due to heavy rains and unpredictable weather conditions," the smartphone maker said in a statement Friday.

The outdoor event was supposed to be held at Seoul Plaza at central Seoul from 8 p.m.

The company wanted foreign tourists and citizens to enjoy the global Unpacked event live in Seoul for the first time since its smartphone brand Galaxy launched in 2010. The program was supposed to have been followed with performances from K-pop acts and for event participants to try out the new products unveiled at the main event, including the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.

The main indoor event will still be held according to the schedule from 8 p.m. at Coex in southern Seoul.
