President Yoon Suk Yeol’s mother-in-law Choi Eun-soon was arrested for falsifying documents in court on Friday.
Her arrest was made after the appellate court upheld an earlier ruling in which the 77-year-old Choi was sentenced to one year in prison, in December 2021.
In 2013, Choi, while purchasing real estate in Dochon-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, falsified her bank account documents to make it appear as though she had a deposit of 34.9 billion won ($27.1 million).
She was convicted for accounts of document forgery, usage of forged papers and purchasing land under another person’s name.
