Former President Martinelli found guilty of money laundering in purchase of Panama publishing group

Martinelli was found guilty of the crime of money laundering for the purchase of a media publisher and faces a sentence of between 5 and 12 years in prison, according to the conviction released on 18 July by the Panamanian Judiciary. The ruling of the liquidating judge of Criminal Cases Baloisa Marquinez indicates that Martinelli was also imposed 'a fine equivalent to 19,221,600.48 dollars as an accessory penalty' for the case known as 'New Business'.
