Protest in Idlib after Russia vetoed UNSC resolution on aid crossing

Russia on 11 July exercised its veto against a UN Security Council resolution to extend cross-border aid operations for another nine months and proposed a six-month extension. The agreement which used to be renewed annually since 2014 allows the delivery of aid from Turkey into rebel-held areas of Syria and expired on 10 July. Syrian government proposed to authorize the use of Bab al-Hawa crossing to deliver humanitarian aid but be supervised and distributed in northwest Syria by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
