Shinsegae Duty Free Inc., a duty free store operator under South Korea’s Shinsegae Group, is expected to open French luxury house Louis Vuitton at its Incheon International Airport outlet.

According to multiple industry sources on Sunday, Shinsegae Duty Free is in the final stages in the discussion to open a Louis Vuitton store at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. It has been granted the DF4 zone for fashion and accessories, where multi-story store Duplex will be launched. Louis Vuitton will be located at the Duplex store in Terminal 2.

Louis Vuitton was the first brand to open an airport duty-free store at Incheon International Airport in 2011. It has been operating a store in Terminal 1 since.

Unlike the other two major luxury brands, Chanel and Hermès, which opened in Terminal 2, Louis Vuitton opened a store in Terminal 1.

If Louis Vuitton joins Shinsegae Duty Free, it will have another store in Terminal 2, which was established in 2018. Louis Vuitton is currently operating stores in only four downtown duty-free shops in Seoul after withdrawing from Jeju and Busan last year.

Hyundai Department Store Duty Free, a duty free brand operated by Hyundai Department Store Co., in the meantime, won the operations at DF5 zone at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2.

The operator, however, failed in negotiations to manage a Hermes store. Hyundai Department Store Duty Free will be joined by Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

Shilla Duty Free, operated by Hotel Shilla Co., successfully attracted Hermès in Terminal 1 and Chanel in Terminal 2. It was earlier named a new duty-free operator for the DF1-3 zones at Incheon Airport.
