Boy band Tomorrow X Together is going strong abroad.
“Sweet,” the boy band’s Japanese second full-length album, topped Japan’s Oricon weekly cumulative album ranking chart as of Friday, and the boy band’s fifth EP, “The Name Chapter: Temptation” (2023), was the most-sold CD in the United States in the first half of 2023.
“Sweet” gathered a total of 306,774 cumulative points on Oricon’s weekly album ranking chart, the highest score of the week and the highest score ever for the boy band. Tomorrow X Together’s previous release, “The Name Chapter: Temptation,” won 188,000 points.
Oricon’s weekly cumulative album ranking chart takes account of the physical disc sales, digital downloads and total streaming numbers.
Physical disc for “The Name Chapter: Temptation” sold over 395,000 copies in the U.S. since its release on Jan. 27, 2023, making it the most sold CD album in the U.S. on the first half of 2023, according to Luminate, the data and statistics company responsible for providing music data to Billboard, on Wednesday.
The boy band also landed No.2 on Luminate’s Top Albums chart with 399,000 sales points, a record for K-pop, only below Taylor Swift. The Top Albums chart combines physical and digital album sales.
“The Name Chapter: Temptation” has seen global success since its release in January. The album sold over 2.1 million copies in the first week of its release.
It also became the boy band’s first album to land atop on Billboard 200.
The album remains on the chart for its 19th consecutive week since its release, making it the longest K-pop album of 2023 to stay on the chart.
