Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients protest in Bucharest

epa10743324 Members of the Federation of Associations of Cancer Patients (FABC) from all over the country protest in front of the Ministry of Health headquarters, in a rally called 'Protest for life!', demanding the implementation of the National Plan to Prevent and Combat Cancer, in Bucharest, Romania, 13 July 2023. Although a National Plan to Prevent and Combat Cancer (PNPCC) was approved by the Romanian Parliament in 2022, the minister of health opposed this plan, according to the statements of the FABC management, stating that the team should draw up another plan, and therefore delaying the implementation of the legal plan approved by the parliament. Thus, the organizers claim, the right to life of more than 500,000 cancer patients in Romania (100,000 patients are diagnosed with cancer every year) is called into question, as they still do not have access to life-saving therapies or modern medical investigations, being discriminated compared to similar patients from other EU countries.
