Romanian health trade union protest in Bucharest

Up to 1,500 representatives of the Health Solidarity trade union federation from all over the country (medical assistants, nurses, stretcher bearers and auxiliary staff) gathered in Romania's capital to demand their wage compensations for endangering their health, proper payment for the extra worked hours and extra shifts in hospitals, riasing wages to compensate for inflation and to urge parliament and government to create and apply a new salary law. Solidaritatea Sanitara (Health Solidarity) union leaders are determined to start, by the law, a general strike in the health care state owned system, as their dispute with the government, over pay and conditions, was not settled yet.
