Young Posse will be the name of DSP Media's upcoming five-member girl group, the agency said Wednesday.
The group will debut this year.
The name derives from the Latin word "posse," meaning "possible" and "to be able," implying that the group is of young people with a purpose, the agency said.
"It contains the strong ambitions and resolute wills of putting the group first, before individuals, and that the group should come together to achieve goals," DSP Media added.
DSP Media announced on June 22 that it plans to debut a five-member girl group in 2023 with Beats Entertainment, an entertainment agency founded by producer and rapper Kiggen.
DSP Media is known for successfully launching K-pop artists over generations, including Sechskies and Fin.K.L to Kara, Rainbow and April.
Working with Kiggen, who produced and wrote lyrics for many K-pop artists, including Seventeen, Twice, Wanna One and WJSN, the two agency plans to create a synergy in debuting a girl group.
