Russia revokes consent to operations of Finnish consulate in St. Petersburg

On 06 July 2023, Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs notified Finland's Ambassador to Russia of the forthcoming expulsion of nine persons working at the Embassy of Finland in Moscow and the Consulate General in St Petersburg. Russia also announced that it would cancel the authorization of Finland's Consulate General in St. Petersburg as of 01 October. According to Russia, the announced expulsions are a countermeasure in response to Finland's last June decision to expel nine members of the personnel at the Embassy of Russia in Helsinki.
