ELN kills 3 police officers in northeastern Colombia ahead of ceasefire

The National Liberation Army (ELN) killed three policemen on 04 July in Catatumbo, in northeastern Colombia, the same day that the guerrilla Central Command ordered all its ranks to cease fire from 06 July. One of the uniformed men, Samir Jose Vega, died in the municipality of Tibu, in the department of Norte de Santander (on the border with Venezuela), after being shot by a sniper while on guard duty in the La Petrolea sector.
