Kurly ups fulfillment capacity by 20% with new Pyeongtaek Logistics Center

Kurly Inc. has opened its logistics center in Pyeongtaek, which is the largest logistics center for the company, and is expected to increase the company’s logistics productivity by 20 percent on-year and enable early morning delivery to certain areas in the southern part of the capital region and Chungcheong Province.

According to Kurly on Monday, the company opened the Pyeongtaek Logistics. With eight floors and an area of 199,762 square meters, the center is equivalent to the size of 28 soccer fields, doubling the scale of its Gimpo Logistics Center opened in 2021.

One notable feature of this facility is the largest-scale temperature-controlled system among Kurly’s logistics centers. The temperature-controlled center is a space where the indoor temperature is maintained at a constant level. It prevents the deterioration of the quality of products sensitive to temperature changes.

The new center is expected to handle an average of 220,000 box orders per day through automated facilities. “When combined with the daily order processing capacity of the Gimpo Logistics Center and the Dongnamgwon Logistics Center, which opened in April this year, we anticipate about 20 percent improvement in Kurly’s overall logistics productivity compared to last year,” a company official said.

The Pyeongtaek Logistics Center receives high evaluations for its technological and operational capabilities. It obtained preliminary certification that complies with the standards of the first-class Smart Logistics Center from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The facility includes a sequence buffer that stores products picked from ambient, chilled and frozen conditions individually and releases them collectively as needed using automated equipment. Picking high-rotation products increases the speed of operations, and the Goods-to-person (GTP) equipment automatically delivers items to human workers, enhancing work efficiency, according to the company.

Kurly’s early morning delivery service is expected to expand to Seoul, Gyeonggi, and certain areas of Chungcheong through the new logistics center. The early morning deliveries in the northwestern part of the capital region are managed by the Gimpo Logistics Center, while the delivery service in the southern regions such as Busan, Ulsan, and Daegu is handled by the Dongnamgwon Logistics Center located in Changwon, Gyeongnam Province.
