Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education announced Friday it will open a high school specializing in teaching K-pop in 2028, with international students also welcome to join.
Professional musicians, choreographers and composers will teach at the school.
Middle and high school students interested in K-pop will be eligible to apply. International students will also be able to apply.
The city's education office will create a task force team that will be in charge of establishing the high school next month.
Construction is expected to start in January 2027, with the high school opening in March 2028.
"If the K-pop high school opens, we will be able to professionally train talented students both in Korea and abroad to enhance their artistic potential," a spokesperson for the city's education office said. "It will be very helpful to make them grow into key individuals that will become leaders in entertainment-related industries."
