Actor Won Ji-an has been cast in the upcoming second season of “Squid Game,” local outlet JTBC Entertainment reported Wednesday.
According to the report, Won will star along with fellow female actors Park Gyu-young, Kim Si-eun and Jo Yu-ri. This dispels criticism that arose last week when Netflix announced four male actors that had been cast for “Squid Game” season two, but no female actors.
Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon and Yang Dong-geun were the actors revealed last week.
Won made her acting debut in the Netflix series “D.P.” (2021) and has starred in dramas “If You Wish Upon Me” (2022) and “Heartbeat” (2023).
"Squid Game" swept streaming service charts when it was released in 2021 and became a worldwide sensation, garnering critical acclaim and various awards. The survival drama series told the story of hundreds of cash-strapped contestants who participate in children's games for a prize of 45.6 billion won ($35.7 million).
The second season of "Squid Game" will start shooting in the latter half of this year. A release date has not been set yet. To find out more about Korean actors, visit Celeb Confirmed!
