Naver to unveil upgraded AI model Hyper Clova X in August

South Korean internet giant Naver Corp. will unveil Hyper Clova X, a large- language model (LLM) and an advanced version of its generative artificial intelligence (AI) model Hyper Clova, in August.

“We are currently conducting internal tests of Hyper Clova X,” said an unnamed official from Naver on Tuesday. “We plan to release it to the public in beta format on August 24.”

According to Naver, the service currently being tested internally is referred to as Hyper Clova X Conversational Agent. The official name, which has not been determined yet, is expected to be finalized by the time of the public release.

The new AI model is expected to be integrated with Naver’s in-house services as well as external application programming interfaces.

Aside from the new AI language model, Naver also plans to introduce a next-generation search AI chatbot service, Cue: to the public in July.

The new chatbot is based on Naver’s 20-year data on users’ search flows. It also builds upon its search specialized AI model Ocean.

Cue: is currently undergoing final tests at the company.

Hyper Clova X Conversational Agent plays a role as a content creation tool by assisting in drafting and coding, according to the company, while Cue: has a slightly different focus on search optimization.
