SK innovation Co.’s Vice Chairman Kim Jun has unveiled plans to significantly expand the company’s share of environmentally-friendly assets to 70 percent by next year.

Speaking at the SK innovation Global Forum held in San Jose, California on Saturday, Kim expressed the company’s commitment to achieving an early realization of its goal through the execution of the Carbon to Green strategy.

SK innovation had previously set a target of reaching a 70 percent proportion of green assets by 2025. However, the company has now decided to expedite its efforts and accomplish this objective a year ahead of schedule.

Over the years, SK innovation has made progress in increasing its green asset portfolio, which grew from 33 percent in 2020 to a current standing of 61 percent.

Kim also emphasized the company’s ambitious long-term vision by saying that the company aims to expand its green portfolios, encompassing carbon-neutral and low-carbon energy, resource circulation, and ultimately achieve “All Time Net Zero” by 2062. The concept of All Time Net Zero involves offsetting all carbon emissions produced by SK innovation since its establishment, culminating in 2062, which will mark the company’s 100th anniversary.

The SK innovation Global Forum serves as a platform to enhance global talent and networks, facilitating discussions on cutting-edge technologies and market trends. The two-day event, which began on June 24, witnessed the participation of more than 80 global experts from academia and the industry, alongside over 30 key executives from SK innovation and its affiliates.
