Macron asks Korea’s conglomerates to invest in strategic industries in France

Samsung Electronics Co. Executive Chairman Jay Y. Lee, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and four other major group leaders in South Korea met with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss bilateral cooperation on energy, biotechnology and future transportation. According to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, the business leaders met with Macron at the Élysée Palace on Wednesday at the president’s invitation. The business leaders were visiting Paris to support Busan’s bid to host the World Expo in 2030.

During the meeting, Macron explained the French government’s investment plans for future strategic industries such as energy, future transportation, healthcare and biotechnology and encouraged Korean companies to take interest and participate.
