SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won who also chairs the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a business lobby group, attended the South Korea-Japan business chambers meeting on Friday despite an Achilles tendon rupture.

Chey posted a message on his social media account that he got his leg injured while playing tennis recently. He, nevertheless, headed to the port city of Busan to attend the meeting that is being held for the first time in 6 years following the resumption of shuttle diplomacy between the leaders of Korea and Japan after 12 years.

Chey is also planning to join a bid campaign for the 2030 Busan Expo from June 19 to 21. Jay Y. Lee, executive chairman of Samsung Electronics Co., Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Euisun Chung, and LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo will also join him.

“The bilateral chamber meeting is an important event for our efforts to host the Expo 2030,” Chey said.

A general meeting of the Bureau International Des Exposition (BIE) will be held in Paris, France, where the Expo 2030 candidates will give their fourth presentations while the 179 member countries read over their reports.
