'29th Dream Concert' takes place in Busan with 19 acts performing

Nineteen K-pop acts performed at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on Saturday night for the "29th Dream Concert," hoping to promote the city's bid to host the 2030 World Expo through the power of K-pop and K-culture.

The concert, attended by 30,000 fans according to its sponsor HD Hyundai, took place at the Busan stadium for the first time. It was in tandem with the official closing performance of the World Climate Industry Expo 2023.

Acts that took part were: Kim Jae-hwan, Dreamcatcher, Everglow, Nmixx, Oh My Girl, Oneus, ITZY, JO1, Tempest, Golden Child, Kim Tae-woo, Drippin, BB Girls, BTOB, TAN, Just B, Mirae, Lapillus and NINE.i.

Among the 19, girl group Lapillus and boy bands Just B, NINE.i and Mirae were added to the roster as a result of fan votes from the "Dream Rookie" program.

"We hope that Hallyu [Korean wave] fans who didn't get to come this year will come to Korea and visit and experience all that Korea has to offer," the members of girl group Oh My Girl said.

The concert was accompanied by various booths to introduce Korean culture as well as on-site events for visitors, such as dance lessons from professional dance crews and performances.

The Japanese edition of "Dream Concert" will be held in Japan on June 18 at the Saitama Super Arena near Tokyo, marking the first time the K-pop festival is being held outside Korea.

With the sub-title, “Hello, My Friends!,” “2023 Dream Concert in Japan” will feature Kim Jae-joong and Kim Jun-su of boy band JYJ, girl groups Dreamcatcher and ILY:1 and boy bands Kingdom, Aimers, Hi-Fi Un!corn and more.
