C.A.P of boy band Teen Top will quit the group and agency TOP Media, the company said Thursday.
"We have decided that C.A.P will quit Teen Top, after talking things out with the members," the agency said. "Teen Top will now have four members — Chunji, Niel, Ricky and Changjo."
The news comes three days after the rapper revealed through a live session on his YouTube channel that he is "considering not making the comeback" on Monday. The agency officially terminated its contract with C.A.P on Thursday.
The remark was made in response to a viewer who asked him not to smoke a cigarette on camera, to which he replied, "Why would people not care about me one bit and then come and start worrying about whether I'll harm the team because we're about to make a comeback?"
"My contract ends in July anyway," he said
Teen Top was scheduled to make a comeback after three years in July.
TOP Media apologized the next day, explaining that C.A.P is deeply regretful of his actions and that the agency will take extra care in managing its artists.
"We are again very sorry to have worried people with his imprudent remark and actions," the agency said in a press release on Thursday.
"We will release further details about the comeback again after careful talks with the remaining members."
Teen Top debuted in July 2010 with six members — C.A.P, Niel, Chunji, Changjo, Ricky and L.Joe — but became a five-member band when L.Joe quit in 2017.
The band is best known for the dance tracks "Clap" (2010), "No More Perfume On You" (2011) and "Crazy" (2012).
