Korea-based Japanese girl group XG ranked on Mediabase's Top 40 Radio Airplay Chart for 10 consecutive weeks, said agency XGALAX on Tuesday.
The girl group’s B-side track “Left Right” from its EP “Shooting Star” (2023) landed at No. 27 on the major American radio chart. The lead track “Shooting Star” had also made XG the first female Japanese act to enter the chart.
Mediabase’s Top 40 tallies radio airplays from around 180 channels in the United States and Canada.
A remix version of “Shooting Star” featuring American pop star Ciara and Jackson Wang, a member of K-pop boy band GOT7 from Hong Kong, also dropped on May 5 and trended on social media. Ciara and Wang performed the remix number during a performance last month at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
XG debuted in 2022 and consists of seven members: Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Maya, Juria, Cocona and Harvey. The members are all Japanese and their tracks are sung in English.
