Jimin from boy band BTS will sing the main song on the soundtrack for the upcoming “Fast & Furious” movie, announced its distributor Universal Pictures on Wednesday.
“Angel Pt.1” by American hip-hop artist Kodak Black and rapper NLE Choppa will feature Jimin as the vocalist on the soundtrack for “Fast & Furious 10,” also known as “Fast X.”
The teaser video for the soundtrack was released on Tuesday and the full music video will drop on May 18.
It makes Jimin the first Korean artist to feature on an original soundtrack of the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise.
“Fast X” is set to open in Korea on May 17, marking the film's first global release. North American audiences will get the chance to see the film two days later on May 19.
“Fast X” depicts the final run of Dom, played by Vin Diesel, a former criminal and professional street racer who had previously settled down with his family but gets called to the street racing scene again. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier, who previously directed the first two “Transporter” films (2002, 2013), “The Incredible Hulk” (2008), “Clash of the Titans” (2010) and “Now You See Me” (2013).
Previous "Fast & Furious" films have performed well at the Korean box office, with the eighth film “The Fate of the Furious” garnering 3.6 million viewers and “F9” — the ninth installment — attracting 2.3 million viewers.
"F9" was the highest-grossing film at the global box office during the pandemic, garnering $681.5 million in ticket sales.
Jimin recently landed in the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles chart with lead track “Like Crazy” from his first official album “Face,” making him the first solo K-pop star to top the chart.
