Belgian interior minister attends new Antwerp Port Security Corps recruitment

The force is part of the reinforcement of the Maritime Police in Antwerp to fight against organised drug crime. The force will have 70 newly recruited security officers, as well as 7 inspectors, 8 chief inspectors and a commissioner. The Federal Police has been deploying an additional 50 officers to the Maritime Police in Antwerp since the beginning of this month. These agents are normally responsible for the security of the nuclear power plant in Doel, a task that is temporarily taken over by the Ministry of Defence. EPA/OLIVIER MATTHYS
