Chile closely monitoring presence of Chinese fishing boats in Antarctica

The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) and the Chilean Navy are closely monitoring the operations of the numerous Chinese boats that reach the overexploited Antarctic and Pacific fishing grounds from the Atlantic Ocean and have also sparked concern from local fishermen and environmental defense groups due to their impact on protected areas.
