'Adoration of the Mystic Lamb' third and final restoration phase starts in Ghent

epa10603993 Workers dismantle the enthroned Almighty panel of the fifteenth-century altarpiece known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by Flemish artist brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck as its third and final restoration phase starts in St Bavo?s Cathedral in Ghent, Belgium, 02 May 2023. The last phase of restoration includes the dismantling and transport of three panels to the Museum of Fines Arts in Ghent for restoration. The Flemish government provides a subsidy of 1.5 million euros and expects a completion date in the spring of 2026. As in the previous phases, an international committee of experts will examine the discoveries and critical points. EPA/OLIVIER MATTHYS
