Joohoney of boy band Monsta X will release his first solo music for the first time in eight years since his debut with his band.
The EP is titled "Lights" and will drop on May 22. No other details have been disclosed yet, apart from an upside-down, desert-like image used for the poster released Monday.
Joohoney is the rapper and producer of Monsta X, who has been taking an active part in making his own music since day one.
As of last March, there are 154 registered at the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca) that credit him as the writer, the seventh highest out of all K-pop artists.
Monsta X dropped its 12th EP "Reason" last January, reaching No. 1 the following day on the iTunes Top Albums charts in 15 nations including the United States, iTunes Top Songs charts in 10 regions and the YouTube Music Videos Trending Worldwide Chart.
Last August, five of the six members — Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon and Joohoney — renewed their contracts with their agency Starship Entertainment, while I.M. decided to sign with Sony Music Entertainment later in December.
