Joy from girl group Red Velvet will take a break from activities due to worsened health conditions, her agency SM Entertainment announced Wednesday.
“Joy recently paid a visit to doctors after feeling unwell. After diagnosis, she was recommended to take a break and focus on recovery,” the statement reads.
“Joy will be taking a break to focus on recovery and will not be taking part in [planned] schedules for the time being. The decision was made after thorough discussions with Joy, [so] we hope fans understand.”
Joy will not be participating in Wednesday’s recording of the SBS show “Animal Farm” (2001-), where she had been co-presenting the show since 2021.
Red Velvet kicked off the group’s fourth concert, “R to V,” with performances at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul on April 1 and 2. Following a performance in Singapore on April 21, the girl group is planning to perform in Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. It has not been announced whether Joy will participate in the group’s planned concerts.
