Samsung Electronics Co. has been ordered by a U.S. jury to pay over $300 million in damages for infringing on several semiconductor patents, according to Reuters.

A federal jury in the Eastern District of Texas sided with U.S. semiconductor company Netlist in a memory patent infringement lawsuit against the Korean chipmaker on Friday local time. The jury found that Samsung Electronics’ memory modules for high-performance computing infringed five of Netlist patents, Reuters reported.

The Irvine-based company filed the lawsuit in 2021, alleging Samsung’s memory products used in cloud-computing servers and other data-intensive technology violated its patents for data technologies.

Samsung argued the patents are invalid and that its technology works in a different way from Netlist’s inventions.
