Samsung SDI begins largest-ever recruitment of experienced staff

South Korean battery manufacturer Samsung SDI Co. has launched the procedure of hiring a record number of experienced employees this month across a diverse range of job sectors in an effort to secure talented workers in the electric vehicle (EV), battery, and battery materials sectors.

Samsung SDI announced on Friday that it began hiring experienced workers across more than 50 job functions from April 14. The recruitment is taking place extensively in all divisions, including the automotive battery division, small-sized battery division, electronic materials division, and research and development (R&D).

“The scale of the experienced hire has not been determined yet,” said an unnamed official from Samsung SDI. “We expect it to be in three digits, which will be the largest ever since the inception.”

The automotive battery division, small-sized battery division, R&D, and the global process and facility development center will hire talents of core technology related to lithium-ion and next-generation batteries.

The electronic materials division will employ personnel specializing in chips processing materials and display materials development. Hiring will also start for support functions such as quality, safety environment, and supply chain management (SCM) planning.

The aggressive hiring comes as attracting talent has become important with the rapid growth of the battery business.

Samsung SDI plans to accept applications by April 28 before finalizing the employment through document screenings, interviews, and health checkups. Candidates with more than four years of relevant job experience after obtaining a bachelor‘s degree are preferred. The enrollment period will be recognized as experience for those with a master’s or doctoral degree and prospective candidates.
