LG U+ opened an English-language website for foreigners on Thursday to let them pay their phone bill online, a move aimed at catering to the growing number of foreign subscribers.
On the new English website (mglobal.lguplus.com), foreign customers can perform essential tasks on top of phone payments, such as viewing subscription information, exchanging cellular data, blocking or unblocking small payments on their mobile phone and activating or deactivating SIM cards, according to LG U+ on Thursday.
Customers can also check out membership benefits and discounts on the website.
Apart from telecommunications services, the website has a tab called talk+, which is an online forum where foreign customers can share their experiences and other helpful tips regarding their stay in Korea.
In March, LG U+ launched a live chat service available in four languages — English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Russian.
LG U+ said it is targeting the increasing foreign population with the latest service, citing the number of foreigners who entered Korea for a long-term stay reached 810,000 in 2022 from 360,000 in the previous year.
The company plans to launch additional foreign-language websites in the first half of this year, such as in Chinese, Vietnamese and Russian, it added.
“We opened an English-language website to enhance convenience and improve the user experience for our foreign customers,” said Kim Yoo-jin, head of the global telecom service business at LG U+. “We aim to offer various benefits beyond communication-related tasks to long-term foreign residents in Korea, making our website a platform for daily convenience.”
